- Abstract
Discussed and described are selected species found in the natural state as well as in cultivation, from among 7,500 medicinal plants found in India, a real emporium of medicinal and aromatic plants. On a daily basis, such species are used as: Azadirachta indica, Cardiospermum halicacabum, Erythrina indica, Gloriosa superba, Jatropha curcas, Moringa oleifera, Phyllanthus amarus, Ssbania grandiflora, Tamarindus indica, Tridax procumbens and Vitex negundo. Most commonly cultivated plants are: Aloe vera, Azadirachta indica, Curcuma longa, Emblica officinalis, Eukaliptus tereticornis, Gloriosa superba, Moringa oleifera, Ricinus communis, Sesamum indicum, Sesbania grandiflora, Solanum americanum, Tamarindus indica and Zingiber officinale. The paper also presents their germination rate.
