- Title
Seeing the bigger picture: how anthropogenic landscape modification in Africa affects declining migratory birds and the need for trans-continental research and conservation.
- Authors
Sheehan, Danaë K.; Sanderson, Fiona J.
- Abstract
The author discusses the role of anthropogenic habitat degradation in Africa to the decline of the bird population in the continent. The author mentions a study which showed that migratory birds may be affected by threats on the breeding grounds, wintering grounds and stopover sites in between, making them vulnerable to the harmful effects of environmental change. Furthermore, a study on the habitat use of Whinchats or Saxicola rubetra in Africa is discussed.
