- Abstract
Introduction: the use of technologies to care for incontinence-associated dermatitis standardizes nursing actions and encourages best practices based on scientific evidence. Objective: to identify technologies available in the literature for the prevention, evaluation and monitoring of incontinenceassociated dermatitis. Method: integrative literature review that had as its guiding question: what technologies exist for the prevention, evaluation and monitoring of incontinence-associated dermatitis? Data collection took place in May and June 2021, in the following databases: Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Library; Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature and Nursing Database. The sample consisted of six articles in English, with no time limit. Results: among the identified technologies, three instruments were found that assess the presence and severity of incontinence-associated dermatitis: Ghent Global IAD Categorization Tool, Incontinence-Associated Skin Damage Severity Instrument and Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis and its Severity. In addition, two look into the monitoring of incontinence-associated dermatitis: The Ghent Global IAD Monitoring Tool; Minimum Data Set for Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis. Finally, an intervention protocol for the prevention of incontinence-associated dermatitis was identified: The Interventional Skin integrity Protocol in a high Risk Environment. Conclusion: prevention, assessment and monitoring tools for incontinence-associated dermatitis contribute to clinical practice, provide subsidies for safe care and based on scientific evidence. These technologies allow for systematic and effective assistance in the treatment of these conditions.
