The author saw many of their reactions in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as they watched Tower One of the World Trade Center burst into flames. The author watched another group in 2005 as the rising water in Louisiana took so many innocent lives. Patients' reactions were universal: a palpable calm and acceptance.
