- Authors
de Oliveira Santos, Breno Augusto
- Abstract
This article aims to present an analysis of the category "social classes" and of the notion of subject in E. P. Thompson, in the face of the critical debate between the historian, the structuralist Marxism and the economicistic Marxism. By exploring events such as the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the URSS in 1956, May 68 in France, and the emergence of the "new" social movements, the article clarifies how Thompson emphasises the ideia of the subject that makes his own story and, in that, introduces categories such as "experience" and "class formation".
