- Abstract
A transition from the industrial society to information community has emerged from globalization and the development of new technologies. Inevitably, these changes have affected the management approaches. Thus, the management with employees' effective and efficient manner has become quite important in the success of the hotel businesses like the other businesses also. Undertaking effective managerial roles of manager is vital to the success of the company. In this context, hotel managers plays key roles. The main purpose of this research with these reasons is to discover whether hotel manager has taken on managerial roles or not and reveal how much time the manager has devoted for managerial roles. Also, the other purposes of the research are to examine manager's management style and perspective on subsidiarity, the most important problems encountered by manager, the systems used to schedule manager's own time and finally manager's performance tools to measure the success. The research includes a case study as qualitative research method, hi this context, the interview with general manager of an international chain hotel was conducted using purposive sampling method. For the design of structured questionnaire prepared for the interview has been benefited from Mintzberg's managerial roles. According to the results, the manager which is the subject of this research seems to undertake all managerial roles but while the manager allocates more time to Leader, Entrepreneur, Resource Allocator and Negotiator Rolles, unlike the manager allocates less time to Figurehead. Monitor and Disturbance Handler Rolles.
