- Abstract
With this research, it is aimed to detect the learning styles of students in 4th grade elementary school, to present whether the learning styles change according to their gender and academic success in social studies lesson. This research was a descriptive study which was done in the relational model. The working group was consisted a total of 340 elementary school 4th grade students who were studying in the 2013-2014 academic year. 176 of these students were female and 164 of these students were male. In the research "Kolb's Learning Style Inventory" and "Personal Information Form" is used. Frequencies and percentages, Chi-square, and one-way analysis of variance were applied. By the end of this research, it has been found that 42.6% of the students have assimilating learning style, 27.9% of the students have modified learning style, 18.2% of the students have separation learning style, 11.3% of the students have accommodating learning style. It has been found this diversity is significant between the learning styles identified, most of the students have assimilating learning style. It has been found that 52.3% of female students have modified learning style and 52.3% of female students have assimilating learning style according to gender variable. It has been concluded that the diversity observed in the learning styles of students is statistically significant and there is no meaningful relationship learning styles and academic achievement
