- Title
NHS organisations pilot new number for non-emergency calls.
- Abstract
The article reports on a new three-digit telephone number for non-emergency calls that has been approved by the British Office of Communications (Ofcom). It notes that the telephone number, 111, can be used by people seeking non-emergency healthcare services. Pilot use of the telecommunication service will be in National Health Trusts (NHS) North East, East of England and East Midlands. Nick Chapman, chief executive at NHS Direct, believes that NHS will be best used by the people through the 111 service.
