INTRODUCTION: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS ) is a relatively new and current therapeutic method that advances of functional neuroimaging techniques and understanding of the pathogenesis of mental illness and the improvement of stimulating techniques provides new therapeutic strategies for treatment. Anxiety disorders and mood disorders are particularly relevant in the group of soldiers. Good opportunity for combining TMS with psychotropic medication allows accelerating therapeutic response at relatively low risk of serious side effects, even when using the parameters different than those recommended in guidelines for safety. OBJECTIVE: The paper aims to present and analyze the results of the combined therapeutic strategies and the safety profi le of TMS in the implementation of protocols for the treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An analysis of the results and serious side effects of the combined use of drug therapies and TMS in Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder was provided. SUMMARY: Presented is a contemporary model for treating these disorders, and opportunities to expand the range of stimulus parameters. CONCLUSIONS: Modern treatment of disorders associated with stress in military personnel is based on the established therapeutic methods, as well as the combination of therapeutic modalities as a result of the latest developments in psychiatric science.
