- Abstract
This article discusses the relationship between motor subtypes of Parkinson's disease and community mobility in individuals with this condition. The study was conducted in a neurology service and used the Life-Space Assessment (LSA) questionnaire to assess community mobility and the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) to classify motor subtypes. 88 individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease participated in the study, with 33 classified as tremor-dominant (TD) subtype and 55 as postural instability/gait disorders (PIGD) or indeterminate type (TI). The results showed that the TD subtype had a higher score on the LSA compared to the other subtypes, indicating less restricted community mobility. It is concluded that intervention strategies targeted at the clinical factors associated with these subtypes can help improve community mobility in this population.
