- Abstract
Fire protection design of installation systems at the Baden cantonal hospital The new generation of installation fastening systems is characterized by early involvement in the planning phase, a high degree of prefabrication, efficient assembly times, significant material savings and optimum use of space in compliance with all relevant regulations. Utilizing these optimization potentials is only made possible by early and cross‐trade fastening planning for the technical building equipment, in which common support structures for cables of all affected trades are designed. At the same time, various fire protection requirements must also be fulfilled for the overall system. With the provision of technical regulations for the design of modular support systems under fire conditions, corresponding design concepts are increasingly used in practice. This paper provides a general introduction into the conception of modular support systems and their design in case of fire and describes, based on a project example, how even demanding planning requirements with regard to fire protection can be efficiently implemented. The selected project example – the cantonal hospital in Baden/Switzerland – is exemplary for a large‐scale project in the health care sector with challenging fire protection requirements for structural systems of the technical building equipment.
