- Abstract
Purpose. It is emphasized as well that no matter the upper limb fracture was localized, occupational therapy consist of exercises conceived for the movement of hole upper limb. Objective. This paperwork aims to emphasize the importance of occupational therapy in rehabilitation of children's upper limb fractures. Methods.; We worked with2 girls and 3 boys; between 7-11 years old, 2 children with fracture in the 1/3 distal of the radius, one child with scaphoid break and 2 children with double fracture of radius and ulna. Were assessed range of motion, muscle strenght and functional capacity; the assessed activities were: eating, dressingundressing, manipulation, hygiene, playing, communication, on a scale from 1 to 5. Rehabilitation program consisted of games and exercises with objects (stick, ball, clay etc.), 1 session daily, for 3 month. Results analysis consisted of the means (%) comparison. Rezults. Where shown singnificant diferences between initial and final assessment. Therefore, eating activity was emproved by 10%, dressingundressing was emproved by 7,4%; objects manipulation was emproved by 6,6%; personal hygiene was emproved by 7%; playing by 6,8%; and communication by different means emproved by 6,4%. Conclusions. This emprovements due to occupational therapy program shows the efficience and the importance of occupational therapy in the rehabilitation of upper limb in children. This will emphasize the role of occupational therapist in the rehabilitation team.
