- Abstract
The aim of our study was to describe the risk factors, clinical symptoms and bacteria isolated during fetal maternal bacterial infections (IBMF) in hospitals. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive prospective study conducted at the date of August 2, October 3, 2007 at the neonatology department and the delivery room of the University Hospital of Yopougon. The population of the study was made up by all newborn babies presenting a risk factor of infection. A bacteriological evaluation samples (containing central, peripheral and gastric fluid) and laboratory tests (NFS, CRP, PCT) was also performed on those new borne. Results: Eighty newborn babies were included. The maternal risk factors were dominated by prolonged rupture of membranes 62.5%. In the newborn were noted bad APGAR 56.3% and 18.8% prematurity. The main clinical manifestations were 52.5% neurological, respiratory and digestive 44.4% 37.5%. The main pathogens isolated were Staphylococcus coagulase negative 65,5%, 13.8% Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 6,9%, 3,4% Klehsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter Sp 3,4%. Conclusion: The clinical symptoms of IBMF are polymorphic. Germs found in our study differ from those usually found in the IBMF Europe.
