- Abstract
Rice husk ash (RHA 420, RHA 520 and RHA 900) obtained from rice husk by burning at different temperatures was used as a filler in SBR-1502 and the mechanical properties were studied. The overall mechanical properties were good when SBR 1502 was filled with RHA 520, indicating the good polymer-filler interaction due to Si-OH groups, whereas SBR 1502 filled with RHA 420 and RHA 900 got moderate mechanical properties, indicating the moderate polymerfiller interaction due to less amount of Si-OH groups. It was concluded that RHA 520 could be used as a cheap semi-reinforcing filler.
