- Abstract
The article discusses research at the U.S. Agricultural Research Service's New Crops and Processing Technology Research Unit in Peoria, Illinois, where experiments with the common milkweed Asclepias syriaca are being conducted by chemist Rogers E. Harry-O'kuru. His analysis of the triglycerides in milkweed oil has demonstrated its potential use in sunscreen and cosmetics. Laboratory test results using the ultraviolet-ray absorbing derivatives of milkweed oil's triglycerides are discussed.
