- Title
The Dilemma of Genetic Information Revealed in Research Studies.
- Authors
Sudduth, Kathy
- Abstract
The article deals with the ethical questions raised against federal regulations on human genetic tests undertaken in the U.S. Under these regulations, physicians are prohibited from revealing the potentially harmful genetic mutation discovered from patients and research participants, unless certified under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). It is envisioned that research ethics boards (REB) or institutional review boards (IRB) would create the parameters for the tests.
