- Abstract
The Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (VOC) Company is more commonly known as the Dutch East India Company. Compared to the profits of today's companies, VOC's profits from trading are more profitable than today's most well-known companies. However, whether this profit is legal or not is a controversial issue. Therefore, the profits of the company can be evaluated in two ways as clean profits or dirty profits. Considering the risky commercial activities that can be dirty profits, it will be understood that these activities may vary from one society to another and even from one time to another. The aim of this study is to explain the activities of the VOC Company, to evaluate the operating results in terms of accounting and finance, and most importantly to examine them within the scope of the concepts of the clean profit and the dirty profit.
