- Title
UNA APROXIMACIÓN A LOS CONCEPTOS ROMANOS DE “CONCORDIA” Y “LIBERTAS”.
- Authors
BALAGUER GARCÍA, ESMERALDA
- Abstract
This article intends to analyse, from the classic antiquity perspective and by means of José Ortega y Gasset’s viewpoint, the roman concepts of “concordia” and “libertas”. With this aim, his writing in reference to Del Imperio Romano allows us to draw the necessary lessons in order to reflect on the true meaning that both concepts had on Cicero’s thought. “Concordia” is the foundation of any stable society. “Libertas” is closely linked to the concept of “life as freedom”, in other words, public life without royalty. Therefore, it is indispensable to account for both concepts in order to understand the Western history.
