- Abstract
This article focuses on the activities of Fox Film Corp. (FFC), that are worthy to note as successes of the company for 1927. In technology, FFC had formed the subsidiary Fox-Case Corp. in August 1926 to exploit its sound-on-film process, opening the way for the Movietone Newsreel to appear in 1927. One of the eras biggest stars, Tom Mix, was under contract alongside rising star Janet Gaylor. Legendary director F. W. Murnau was in Los Angeles, California making his U.S. debut for FFC. Buoyed by the successful release of "What Price Glory" in 1926, movie production was busy on three Fox studio lots, in New York City, on Western Avenue in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, and at Movietone City, where a smaller version of the Fox Studio still exists in 2005. At the same time, William Fox was building a movie theater empire.
