- Title
Back to Nature: a revival of natural strain improvement methodologies.
- Authors
Kuipers, Oscar P.
- Abstract
The article argues in favor of applying genetic engineering and suggests ways to overcome objections over the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food and environmental applications. The article discusses that horizontal gene transfer is a natural process and that using it would be beneficial in understanding the natural transfer of genes. Besides, the article also suggests an in-depth study of microbial strains which are to be genetically modified.
