- Abstract
This article discusses a case of metastatic calcinosis cutis (MCC) in a 42-year-old man with end-stage renal disease. MCC is a subtype of calcinosis cutis, which is characterized by the deposition of insoluble calcium salts in subcutaneous and cutaneous tissues. MCC is most commonly seen in patients with chronic renal failure and presents as benign nodules in a periarticular distribution. The condition is caused by abnormal calcium and phosphorus metabolism and can be treated through dietary restriction, the use of phosphate binders, and surgery.
