- Authors
Moore, Clive
- Abstract
In 2003, acting through the Pacific Forum, and with the support of the Solomon Islands Government, Australia and its Pacific neighbours invoked the 2000 Biketawa Declaration, created to enable a coordinated response to any regional crisis. The resultant Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), mainly financed by Australia (with AU$2.6 billion), was led by Australia and New Zealand with the assistance of all Forum members until RAMSI withdrew in mid-2017. Michael Wesley, a leading scholar of Australian foreign policy, took on the task of assessing Australia's participation in the RAMSI intervention.
