- Abstract
The essay talks about the Indians of All Tribes (IOAT), a group of American Indian activists, which occupied the U.S. Alcatraz Penitentiary in California in 1969. It states that the the IOAT produced a IOAT Alcatraz Newsletter and broadcast radio program Radio Free Alcatraz. It is noted that the protest movements were to persuade the readers regarding the cruel and misguided policies of the U.S. government. The Alcatraz Newsletter promoted united identity for for all indigenous Americans.
