The article recounts the content of the tributes and obituaries that followed the death of American novelist Norman Mailer. It says these tributes described Mailer a giant of American literature, writer of the finest books in the 20th century, a man with generous spirit. According to the article, the matured Mailer saw writing as a courageous confrontation with the truth. It also notes that the most memorable characteristic of Mailer as a writer was his concept of telling only the truth and his ideology of never feeling afraid.
