- Abstract
This article, written by Hana Salaam Abdel-Malek, explores the concept of social dreaming and its relationship to group dynamics. The author argues that social dreaming is a task that requires attention to the frame, inter-subjective transferences, and defenses against the task itself. Through a series of matrices, the article demonstrates how social dreaming is challenged by the lack of containment and holding in the role of hosts, seating arrangements, and note-taking. The author suggests that understanding the personal and social aspects of dream tellings can transform the relationships between self and culture. The article also highlights the connection between group dynamics and social dreaming, showing how the process can uncover unconscious symbolic groups and enable clearer thinking and creativity.
