- Abstract
The article analyses the children's poetry by Judita Vaičiūnaitė. The authentic self-expression of urbanistic culture is regarded as the exclusive poetry sign not only in general literature but also in that for children. The fact that the poetry by Vaičiūnaitė is a unique phenomenon in the context of folklorized children's literature is empasised. Through her poetry the author succeeded in proving that the city is not a phenomenon of spiritless culture. The city space became an expression of unrestricted freedom of a personality, a possibility to improvise not only in reality but also in the poetry world. The aesthesized city space serves as a self-expression of Vaičiūnaitė's poetic games. The poetess transferred the symbolism of the city as a safe, harmonious and home-like asylum into the Lithuanian children's poetry. The city world is enigmatic and mysterious in Vaičiūnaitė's poetry for children. The article employs the interpretative method for analysis of Vaičiūnaitė's poetry for children.
