- Authors
Owen, D. J.; Lane, J. M.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the factors affecting feather plucking in parrots. Some of the physical causes of feather plucking include infections with virus such as polyomavirus and irritation caused by mites and lice. However, a large portion of feather plucking is thought to have psychological origin. These stereotypic behavior might be a response to stress arising from the lack of environmental enrichment of lack of interaction with its kind.
