- Abstract
This article discusses a study conducted by Guo and Xie on the association between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The authors used genome-wide association studies to explore this association and identified GERD through various criteria including the consumption of omeprazole and self-reported GERD symptoms. The article highlights some methodological points, such as the need to consider the differences between GERD and laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), and suggests the use of hypopharyngeal-esophageal multichannel intraluminal impedance-pH monitoring (HEMII-pH) for the diagnosis of LPR. The study emphasizes the importance of improving awareness and understanding of these conditions for future research.
