- Title
Stories of Girls from Nepal.
- Abstract
The article reports on the life situation of girls in Kathmandu, Nepal. Due to poverty, many girls in Nepal are sold to indentured servitude in abusive conditions. This practice is called "kamlari," and thousands of girls have suffered mental and physical abuse by their owners. Local non-governmental organizations (NGO), Friends of Nepal (FNC) and Nepalese Youth Opportunity Foundation (NYOF), rescue and help rehabilitate these girls. Raju Dhamala, executive director of FNC, believes the government has to address this problem.
