Title
Weed clearing to improve cancer treatment.
Abstract
The article discusses an enzyme that affects a heavy sugar-like substance surrounding certain solid tumors, thereby improving cancer treatment. This hyaluronidase enzyme targets and destroys the glycosaminoglycan molecule hyaluronan (HA) that covers a subset of solid tumor cells including breast and lung cells. Jonathan Lim, president, Halozyme Therapeutics Inc., states that the enzyme reduces fluid pressure up to 80 percent and is effective with other anti-cancer agents like Taxotere.
