- Abstract
The article presents a review of single-case studies focusing on the use of self-monitoring strategies to reduce problem behaviors among special needs students in the classroom setting. Five of the studies reviewed used self-monitoring with reinforcement, which involved rewarding accuracy in self-monitoring. The training approaches for teachers adopted to implement self-monitoring interventions are detailed. The effectiveness of such interventions based on changes in behavior and academic performance is tackled.
