The article offers information on the contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM) application in breast cancer. It discusses the increased risk of contralateral breast cancer for women with unilateral breast cancer. It also cites several issues regarding CPM including benefits, complication, operation and alternatives. Moreover, it also notes that despite the risks and complications, patients are satisfied with CPM treatment.
