- Title
The physician's voice in the health care debate.
- Authors
Epstein, Jonathan A.; Turka, Laurence A.; Birnbaum, Morris; Koretzky, Gary
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the opinion of physicians in the debate about how to improve the current health care system in the U.S. They emphasize the responsibility of community physicians to provide a fact-based framework for the debate by disseminating accurate information to their patients and colleagues. However, they infer that the ability of physician to emphasize compassionate healing and to control the delivery of care has been diluted with competing interests.
