- Abstract
The article presents a study conducted to examine the effect of posttraumatic reactions on future time perspectives of individuals with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. It discusses the possible posttraumatic reactions following chronic illness and disability. Reactions such as shock, anxiety, denial depression and internalized anger are reactions that patients with disabilities resort to adapt to their disability. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a psychological experience that can follow the onset of chronic illness and disability.
