- Abstract
The article explores the scientific approach to phonetics. The term experimental phonetics may involve acoustics, psychology, or physiology. Today, in several renowned phonetics laboratories throughout the world the quest for a machine which will produce good synthesized speech still goes on. Furthermore, a variety of speech related experiments are being carried on in many psychology and acoustic laboratories. The field of phonetics has grown until it embraces all of the major sciences. However, the primary efforts have been made in three main fields such as psychology, acoustics, and physiology.
