- Abstract
The article reports on the decision of garment retailer C&A to purchase organic cotton from India in 2008. C&A plans to buy 7,500 tonnes of organic cotton from the country to manufacture its garment products. The author notes that the company will be able to make an estimated 12.5 million garments using such organic cotton. The garments that will be produced by C&A from Indian cotton will be marketed at the company's 1,172 stores across 16 European Union (EU) countries. The organic cotton acquisition is said to be significant to Indian farmers.
