In this article the author discusses the 85/3 Occupational Noise Exposure Project related to the management of noise exposure in the workplace. According to the author, more than 163,000 U.S. workers have received permanent and disabling hearing loss from noise exposure on the job since 2004. The author says that the Hearing Conservation Amendment (HCA) asks for a 85 decibel (dB) time-weighted average (TWA) limit for workplace noise, along with a 5-dB exchange rate.
