- Title
Density bias in behavioral ecology.
- Authors
Stamps, Judy A.
- Abstract
The author cites her agreement with Dr. Deborah Gordon's suggestion that behavioral ecologists are remiss in integrating approaches and perspectives from ecology to their research programs and elaborates this point using population density as an example. She notes how population density is rarely mentioned as a criterion for site selection since most behavioral ecologists choose study areas with high local densities. She encourages them to include estimates of population density and consider how fitness consequences of behavioral traits may vary.
