- Abstract
New information technologies, increasingly precarious relations and the changing environment of industrial relations raise vital questions for the academic institution regarding the ownership and exploitation of intellectual property. The value of any company is measured by the value of its intellectual property, and so when the emphasis is shifted from the intellectual property and the protection of such is neglected, a precondition for dangers arises. The patent is a powerful and convenient business tool through which companies can obtain exclusive rights to a new product or process, gain significant market share and earn additional revenue through licensing. It is often assumed that the registration of a trademark, patent, know- how can be postponed to a later stage, which sometimes proves to be fatal for the company and the business. Through studying in a training company, students' attention is focused on intellectual property, which is a key element in making the most out of companies' new and innovative ideas and technological capabilities. Through training in such company optimal management of scientific resources is accomplished, especially new ideas and concepts. It is extremely important as an opportunity for each company to change, adapt and take advantage of new opportunities, competing in the rapidly changing economical sphere. In modern economics, the patent strategy of an innovative enterprise must be a key factor in this business strategy. The study company explains to students simply and clearly the business benefits of the patent system for all types of enterprises. With the growing emphasis on innovations, research and cross-border cooperation, through training in a study company, students will learn about intellectual property rights to protect their products which may be objects to intellectual property. As businesses turn to innovation and creativity for sustainable development, it must be understood, that good training in the field of intellectual property will provide security. When a culture for intellectual property is created through a training company, the innovations are patented and taken for commercialization by start-up companies, this will give inventors and entrepreneurs a competitive advantage. Fundamental awareness to the rights of the creator is developed in students exactly through the learning company. A culture of respect for the creator’ rights and recognition of the use of someone else’s art is built. Students enter the professional world prepared better, where they will develop and exercise intellectual property rights.
