- Abstract
In the article "Cinematic Reviews: Strange Plotlines" by Anna Faktorovich, three films with unconventional plotlines are discussed. The first film, "Damsel," presents a fairytale where the damsel must escape from a murderous dragon after a supposedly happy marriage. The second film, "65," challenges the notion that humans have not evolved since the arrival of alien ancestors on Earth 65 million years ago. The third film, "Leave the World Behind," offers a different approach to an apocalypse, questioning the traditional hero narrative. The article also explores the structural issues in modern cinema and the need for films that promote lifelong happiness for both genders. It examines the portrayal of aliens, history, and dinosaurs in science fiction films, highlighting the tendency to depict aliens as either human-like or monstrous villains and critiquing the problematic narrative of "discovery" in historical fiction. The article concludes by discussing how the film "Leave the World Behind" breaks traditional plot rules to address concerns about humanity's failures.
