- Abstract
Providing quality oral health care for patients with special health needs requires special training. This study is a survey investigating dental students' and recent graduates' level of knowledge, attitudes and practices when treating patients with special health needs. Even though more than one-third of dental students (53/137) reported not feeling confident in treating patients with special needs (p < 0.002), they reported significantly higher levels of confidence with the increase in the number of clinical experiences treating patients with special health needs (p < 0.001).
