The article explores the consumer spending on durable goods in the U.S. It reveals that the effect of interest rates on the said category of spending has weakened in the economic recovery of the country. The impact of the decline in interest-rate sensitivity on the reduction of an increasingly large portion from real GDP growth is also outlined.
