- Abstract
The article focuses on the findings of the surveys conducted by Opinion Research Corp. for the U.S. National Science Board. The surveys were conducted in 1972, 1974 and 1976. Results indicated that the public's esteem for scientists in 1976 was second to its esteem for physicians. 71 % respondents consider the efficacy of science and technology in changing the life for better as opposed to the 7%. A small number of populace want an increase in the social control over science and technology.
