Title
Diet influences dental plaque.
Abstract
The article presents a study comparing samples of dental plaque from patients with hereditary fructose intolerance to samples from teeth of patient's siblings. The study revealed that plaque from fructose-intolerant individuals has fewer decay causing bacteria as compared to plaque from normal siblings and suggested that the chemical composition of plaque may be affected by the sugar-free diet. To conclude, further studies could offer clues as to which bacteria are vital in causing tooth decay.
