- Abstract
The authors comment on a study published within the issue which examined the association between low serum urate levels, mortality and sarcopenia. Topics covered include the strengths and limitations of the study, questions on the associations between low serum urate and progression of neurodegenerative diseases raised by the study findings, and the implications of the study for gout management guidelines that recommend against intensively lowering serum urate levels.
