- Abstract
The objective of this work was to analyze, from the perspective of Erving Goffman, the documentary "Waste Land" from the perspective of the waste picker and from the premise of a possible stigmatization of this activity by Brazilian Law. We used bibliographical research and the critical qualitative method to build a dialogue between the two works, the artistic and the academic. The importance of this analysis is based on the role of the waste picker as a person and professional and in the perspective of the sustainability of this activity. This approach is justified by the need to "de-stigmatize" the activity of the recyclable waste collector, which is essential to achieve the purposes of environmental rationality thought of the current reality of Brazilian reverse logistics politics. It can be assumed that, even with the normative framework of the National Solid Waste Policy, the recyclable waste picker continues to be stigmatized because it does not fit into a professional standard established by society. Therefore, it is aimed to analyze the statements of the participants of the documentary, comparing the terms of analysis with the work "Stigma - notes on the manipulation of the deteriorated identity" and carrying out search of specific keywords of the theme in the jurisprudence of the national higher courts in Labor matters.
