- Abstract
An essay is presented on speciesism. The author considers the vitality of manga characters and situates their sense of life in the context of ideologies of racial cooperation and harmony during wartime Japan in order to address the politics of animal characters in the postwar manga of Osamu Tezuka. He argues that a catalyst can be found in the cuteness of little animal characters not only for user interaction but also for a politics of life and biopolitical formation.
