- Abstract
The article discusses the discovery and excavation of three caverns in the northern escarpment of the Tausret temple site in Egypt. These caverns, referred to as Features 1, 2, and 3, were found to contain human remains and burial goods, suggesting that they functioned as tombs. The excavations provide evidence of ancient activity from the New Kingdom to the Byzantine Period, with the tombs likely associated with the later temple-tomb of Khonsuirdis. The article also discusses the previous excavations conducted by William Flinders Petrie in the area and the discovery of an Assyrian helmet, which is now believed to be part of an Egyptian tomb chapel.
