- Title
NEW LISTINGS AND THEIR PRICE BEHAVIOR.
- Authors
VAN HORNE, JAMES C.
- Abstract
The article examines the impact on share price of firms that list on either the New York or American stock exchanges after having previously traded over-the-counter. Some commentators believe listing brings with it several benefits--prestige, publicity, marketability, etc.--that have an upward effect on share price. The author examines empirical data from the period 1960-1967 for new listings on the New York and American exchanges. Analysis indicates that listing does not in itself present a profitable trading opportunity.
