- Abstract
The author identifies the measures that should be monitored to determine the success of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Variables that could be assessed to monitor health reform include the elimination of preventable mortality, avoidance of preventable hospitalizations, increased number of residents with access to care, and cost of care divided by the number of individuals in a system of care. The author also suggests measuring the quality of treatment of health workers.
